Patriots

I'm feeling a little patriotic after a visit to the United Flight 93 Memorial last week (photo above) and today being the 10th anniversary of the September 11th attacks.

There was quite a lot of hype this week about the NFL threatening to fine Chicago Bears Linebacker Lance Briggs for wearing September 11th Tribute gear as it was in violation of their uniform code.  I wonder if it would have been different if we played for the New England Patriots?  Anyway,  the NFL eventually backed down from the PR disaster and approved the gear photo'd below:

Much less was made of Bethanie Mattek-Sands showing her patriotism at the US Open earlier this week.  Since her patriotism was muffled by the NFL media machine, I thought I give her some credit and honor her with a post.  Who will take it?  Bethanie in her Under Amour tank & skirt paired with (old) glorious socks?  Or this lil' guy?

R.I.P. Amy

Amy Winehouse turned out to to be the next in a string of great musician's who died tragically at the age of 27, joining the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Brian Jones, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin & Kurt Cobain.

With her autopsy scheduled for Monday we aren't going to know for certain if drugs played a contributing role in her death, but her track record along with the precedent set by the others of the doomed "27-to-heaven club" seem to suggest it did.

In her honor we've put her up in blue T-shirt with striped panties against this apparent Pomeranian-Tommy-Bahama mixed breed, both accessorizing with a bong that completes the look:

Womens World Cup Final - Golden Opportunities

There was a lot of pressure on the women of the US Soccer Team to come home with a gold medal today and though they played well they stuggled to put the ball on frame despite a few golden opportunities.   I wonder if the designers at Nike were dreaming gold when they designed Hope Solo's golden keeper jersey for the game?   I guess we'll never know as the women came up short and we only got to see silver off of it.

Congratulations Japan.

In a tribute to the US team I'm putting up a saddened Hope Solo wearing Nike against the saddest golden retriever puppy I could find:

Honorable mention for the would-be hero, Alex Morgan, who made a running for today's post with a brilliant goal in representation of the red white & blue.  Of course the 'white' in this case is a transparent one with a pink sports bra underneath, but whatever, it's America and we do what we want.  I love the USA...with or without the title.  Good job ladies.

Stars and (Tiger) Stripes

The weather isn't great to start off the 4th of July weekend, so I think I may go catch a movie today.  Bad Teacher is on the shortlist, so here is a photo of Cameron Diaz at the Moscow Premiere in Emilio Pucci versus an adorable dalmation and his Friend:

R.I.P. Randy

This weekend Randy the Macho Man Savage died suddenly in a car accident.  As he joins other wrestling greats like 'The British Bulldog' in the afterlife, let's see if this legendary wrestler in his typical garb can get one last win against a pair of wrestling French Bulldogs from AtoZFrenchbulldogs.com:

Pup vs. Pip(pa)

Pippa Middleton's arse nearly stole the show at the royal wedding, so I decided to give her the toughest competition I could find:

It's been too long....

...sorry for the long break readers!!!  I had a crazy month of world travels. Guatemala, London, Paris, Boston, Miami & Ohio.

I knew I had to come back big...so here is a thought provoking & confusing one for those of you that have been voting one-sided thusfar:   Puppies as people or people as puppies?

Madness is Gladness

As the college basketball madness winds down this weekend, let's take a moment to pay tribute to the 68 team tournament:

Surely this match up between a black and brown pomeranian and Craig Sager, the legendary basketball commentator with his infamous outfits will be a close one:

Setter vs. Sitter

Who do you like in this St. Patrick's Day Throwdown?  The Irish Setter puppy or the Pub-Sitter wearing a nice twist on an Irish wedding outfit?

Wear your heart on your sleeveless

We sadly bid the Bachelor Season 15 adieu tomorrow night.

Let's give everybody's favorite contestant one last chance at a victory:

Now one for the men:

Last weekend at UFC 127 Brian Ebersole fought Chris Lytle in a pretty entertaining fight.  Aside from his cartwheel kicks and unconventional antics, Ebersole's chest hair was an eyecatcher.  In my mind it's begging for a poodle matchup.

Ebersole may have won the fight in his UFC debut, but will he win his puppies vs outfits debut against this white poodle puppy?

Resurrection Throwdown

This Puppy is amazing, so he's going to need some tough competition.  Here is his story:

http://www.news9.com/Global/story.asp?S=14167428&hpt=T2

To make sure it wasn't a blowout for "Wall-e" and his "new leash on life" I picked the toughest competition I could think of.

So what is it?  The puppy who came back to life or the flowing white robes?

(Remember it's about the outfit...don't turn this into an ideological warzone)

Red Carpet

"The King's Speech" took home top honors, but best outfit was not so black and white.  However, Reese Witherspoon was up there on most people's lists:

Pre-Oscar Perspective:

The red carpet is an important event in the fashion outfits world, but before we start let's take a moment to take our eyes off the stars and get perspective.   The are plenty of people and puppies out there who could use some help.

So who takes it home? (probably a poor choice...sorry) wins?  The 'Derelicte' Chambray shirt, or his loyal friend?

Let's formally kick this off: Black Tie!

This blog will always maintain a sense of humor, so we'll start with the "New Year's Eve makeout sign-up list" T-shirt paired with Tuxedo.   (note the "break" included in the scheduling)
