R.I.P. Amy

Amy Winehouse turned out to to be the next in a string of great musician's who died tragically at the age of 27, joining the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Brian Jones, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin & Kurt Cobain.

With her autopsy scheduled for Monday we aren't going to know for certain if drugs played a contributing role in her death, but her track record along with the precedent set by the others of the doomed "27-to-heaven club" seem to suggest it did.

In her honor we've put her up in blue T-shirt with striped panties against this apparent Pomeranian-Tommy-Bahama mixed breed, both accessorizing with a bong that completes the look:

Womens World Cup Final - Golden Opportunities

There was a lot of pressure on the women of the US Soccer Team to come home with a gold medal today and though they played well they stuggled to put the ball on frame despite a few golden opportunities.   I wonder if the designers at Nike were dreaming gold when they designed Hope Solo's golden keeper jersey for the game?   I guess we'll never know as the women came up short and we only got to see silver off of it.

Congratulations Japan.

In a tribute to the US team I'm putting up a saddened Hope Solo wearing Nike against the saddest golden retriever puppy I could find:

Honorable mention for the would-be hero, Alex Morgan, who made a running for today's post with a brilliant goal in representation of the red white & blue.  Of course the 'white' in this case is a transparent one with a pink sports bra underneath, but whatever, it's America and we do what we want.  I love the USA...with or without the title.  Good job ladies.

Stars and (Tiger) Stripes

The weather isn't great to start off the 4th of July weekend, so I think I may go catch a movie today.  Bad Teacher is on the shortlist, so here is a photo of Cameron Diaz at the Moscow Premiere in Emilio Pucci versus an adorable dalmation and his Friend:
